Hello again

Hope you like the homepage so far because unlike most other personal pages, my incentive was to give you, the surfer, easy access to a number of useful and informative links. The manner in which I have done this is related to several interesting topics forming part of my life and hobbies. I hope you too will find them pretty cool - happy surfin' !

Formal Introduction

What's in a name? Well, you tell me! ...as you know mine is Charles, more commonly known as Chaz or even better, The Chazman! hehe. First of all let me tell you where I come from. I was born and raised and have lived all 22 years of my life in South Africa and reside in "home sweet home" in Edenvale - Johannesburg, with my parents and my 19 year old sister Jenny (Scruff) or her IRC nick, Hippa__ . What I (have to) do - Study!!!

As a lil dude, I went to Edenglen Primary School - a local school in our suburb. As a slightly larger dude, I moved on to High School at Jeppe Boys High. From there I changed to Sandringham HIgh where I spent my Standard 8 year (10th grade). Finally I settled at Crawford College where I graduated in '94, so I've gotten to know a variety of friends of all walks of life.

But that's not where the studying ends!! In '95 I started my 1st year at the University of Pretoria in Electronic Engineering. I am currently half way through my 3rd year with 1 year after this to complete the degree.

During my time off from varsity (of which there is very little) I work for a communications company, Transtel (link may be inaccessable due to firewall). There I work for the Network Administrator in the Information Systems department helping out where I can with many computer and network related problems.

What I (want to) do - Play!!!

Like most of you Internet junkies, when I get the time, I spend it here on the computer and the NET. My favourite pastime would have to be the IRC. (Internet Relay Chat - or in my case - I Repeat Courses) Meet some of my coolest friends on the IRC!

When I'm not on the NET then I'm playing away at any of the latest games I can get my hands on. Lately they have just been Shareware software downloaded from the NET but occasionaly I coax a friend or 2 of mine into buying a new game. Hobbies

Well...I would consider playing on the computer a hobby...but that would be too boring. What would "messing" around with the computer be without delving in the insides? Yeah, as a hobby I dig playing with the guts of my computer. Like any normal engineer wannabe, my computer case is...is...geez...I haven't got a clue where it is! Yep, my poor machine spends more time with it's insides out than all closed up. I must admit, now I have finally settled down with a fast enough machine and an external modem (so there's less chance of me pulling the poor thing out!).

When I'm not getting square eyes from my monitor then it's from the TV - nothing better than to sit back and enjoy the lighter side of life. Yep, the comedies rule! I'll do anything to enjoy a good laugh *lol*. Ahhh...the Movies! Now there's something to look forward to - the BIG screen. If it's not my square eyes then it's my ears being blown away! I love my music. I'm a solid Alternative and Rock fan. I love the instrumental sound of an electric guitar piercing my eardrums as it's player peels away at the chords of each mind-blowing rift. Check out my fav bands and music taste on my Music page.

Sport

"...and it's Dio for 3...he shoots...he SCORES!!!" - Yeah, dig it! Basketball has gotta rule. I played basketball for the last 2 years of High School - The Crawford Cougars. We were an up and coming force to be reckoned with - new at the game but cool fun nonetheless. Since then I've played college basketball for a while but that has taken a back seat with all the studies - pretty lame, I know :(
We don't get a lot of decent basketball TV coverage here in South Africa but when we do, I watch what I can. Like any new supporter on the NBA scene, I became attracted to some of the cooler teams and finally settled with The Chicago Bulls - yep...it was Michael Jordan who tickled my fancy but I dig the team in action as a whole. The huge Croatian Toni Kukoc is a great player. I dig Steve Kerr and also the 7 ft 2 giant center, Luc Longley. How about the forwards...Scottie Pippen kicks butt and Dennis Rodman...need I say more?
So as you can imagine I've got all the parafanalia, caps, jackets, stickers etc although I did support Orlando Magic for a while...but the Bulls reign supreme!

Next on the sport list has gotta be Cricket! Yep, I'm an avid South African cricket supporter. I only really played cricket as a youngster but now I follow our boys all the time. South Africa has become one of the greatest cricketing countries...we still need work on our test matches but as far as One Days are concerned - we kick butt.
When it comes to Provincial cricket, I support Western Province. Yep, Simons and the boys...Big Mac when he's not playin for SA, Mathews, Pringle, Gogga, Kirsten - they all rule.

Soccer! Yep...I dig soccer too. I love the English Premier League - can't say I watch much else cuz I don't! Who do I support? hmmmm....who do you think? I support the one and only Red Devils - Manchester United! No, I don't support them cuz they were the champions of the 95 season - I've been brought up a healthy Man Utd supporter by my father - yeah since the good ol days when Norman Whiteside and the boys ruled. Well what can I say... they won the league again!!! They're a young side and still kickin' butt. Check out Man Utd's Official Homepage.
