A young right-back come wingback, Carragher impressed in his appearances in pre-season matches in 1996 when he took his chance due to injuries. He was rewarded with being given a squad number and sat on the benc h for the first few games of the 1996/97 season.

Currently the captain of Sammy Lee's Liverpool reserves side, Carragher has recently impressed in a midfield role and is one with a bright future at the club.
