    From Namibia

My tour around Namibia with a group of four tourist started at Johannesburg International Airport. There I met the passengers, a Italian group.  Out first stop took us to Keetmanshoop where we refueled and cleared customs to enter Namibia.

It was a beautiful late afternoon when we took off for a flight to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, positioned between sand dunes and mountains in the Namib desert.  A majestic setting in the oldest desert in the world.

For sunrise the next day we set off a short but scenic flight across the desert down to the west coast and north only to see the beauty of a handshake between two earthly brothers, the cold Atlantic ocean on our left and the warm dry Namib desert on our right.  We were told that it would be an unforgettable sight and it was; the thought waved through my mind as I fell asleep that night.

The forth day of our journey we set set our sights on Twyfelfontein, where the rooms are actually build into the rock face of a mountain hence the name Rock Lodge, but first we had to too refuel at Walvisbaai just to the south west of our destination.  Slowly by surely the scenery changed from sand dunes to mountains. The late afternoon sun painted earth and sky with all shades of red into the breathtaking horizon.

Nambia is full of surprises and one of the best kept secrets from the travelers point of view, and one of the most awesome natural phenomena must be the Epupa Falls.  This was our next stop on the journey of a lifetime.  Positioned on the Angolan border is a miniature Victoria Falls.

We were sad but excited to leave for we were on our way to probably the most visited part of Namibia the the Etosha pan.  From the air we could see the vast area of Etosha National Park and natures eternal cycle between plant and beast.  With only two nights one cannot appreciate the beauty of this Park to the fullest, fortunately the African sunset did not disappoint us.

Namibian is a must see for anyone wanting to relax in nature's beauty...

    Into Botswana

The journey continued into Maun, Botswana, known for its wildlife. We cleared customs and drowned our thirst with some cold drinks thanks to the African sun beating down at us at 35°C .  This eased the flight to the Okovango Delta where we spent the next five days visiting different camps.  It is highly recommended to do camp hopping in the Delta only then can one really appreciation the beauty of this area with some camps are more water based than others.  One of the musts are the Mokorro rides and only then can you experience a breathtaking sunset on water.

In this vast country one is almost certain to see the Big Five, we were.

Further east from the Delta, is the Linyanti river where it's semi arib.  Don't be fooled, there are still ample wild live! Were a lioness hunts for her three cubs, cheetah's and the beautiful Leopard all in one area.

    And onto Zambia and Zimbabwe

One of Africa's seven wonders was next, the spectacular Victoria Falls, on the border of  Zambia and Zimbabwe.  Again we had to stop some ware to clear customs and Kasane it was.  With difficulty clearance was obtained to fly over the falls for the greatest photo opportunity.  From above we could see the steaming spray, with the falls wrapped in mist down below.  Miniaturized standing next it the mighty falls, enchanting and exhilarating.

    Finally Botswana

Lastly we were blessed to relive the dying culture of the Bushman, in the Central Kalahari.

Fifteen days felt like fifteen hours and sadly it had to end.  We parted at Johannesburg International, although we may not meet again we share the same beautiful memories of only a few places in Africa!
