Days 1 & 2 Johannesburg
to Ndumo Game Reserve (600km).
Our tour begins with an early departure from Johannesburg (we will pick
you up at your address) and we travel eastward into Mpumalanga passing
through Bethal, Ermelo, Piet Retief and Pongola after which we turn
off the N2 and head up to Ndumo Game Reserve, arriving there by mid
to late afternoon. Accommodation tonight and tomorrow night is at the
exclusive Ndumo Wilderness Camp which is set in the ‘wilderness zone’
of the Reserve, an area not open to the general public. The camp is
truly luxurious with its classic en-suite safari tents set on a raised
wooden deck under a canopy of giant fig trees. Tour activities include
guided walks in the fig and fever tree forests, drives in open Land
Rovers and sundowners at the edge of Nyamithi Pan. Probably one of the
finest birding spots in the country!
Days 3 & 4 Ndumo Game Reserve to Tembe Elephant Park (50km).
We continue our tour of Maputaland to the adjacent Tembe Elephant Park
where we will stay for two nights. Home to the largest and only indigenous
elephant herd in Kwazulu-Natal and also home to a rich diversity of
wildlife – including four of the ‘Big Five’. This is the Africa that
tourists seldom get to see and the privately managed luxury safari lodge
ensures an exclusive bush experience including day and evening game
drives.
Days 5 & 6 Tembe Elephant Park to Kosi Bay Forest Camp (100km).
From Tembe Elephant
Park we travel the short distance to Kosi Bay Forest Camp situated in
the Kosi Bay Coastal Forest Reserve. This is a luxurious forest camp
from which one can explore the lake system and generally enjoy the varied
activities included in the tour such as open Land Rover drives, canoeing,
birding (the rare Palm Nut Vulture and Pel’s Fishing Owl can both be
found in the Raffia Palm Forest) or why not try a little fly fishing?
Day 7 Kosi Bay Forest Camp to Johannesburg (700 km).
An early morning start to a long days journey back home arriving at
approximately 18h00.
