(26/9) "On The Line" premiere
....Bass and Fatone still plan a Manhattan premiere for their film ''On the Line'' by Rebecca Ascher-Walsh  BOYS TO MEN 'N Sync may have to bear the dubious brand of ''boy band,'' but two of its members, Joey Fatone and Lance
Bass, are acting pretty manly as far as we're concerned.  The two had planned to celebrate their feature debuts in the $10 million romantic comedy ''On the Line,'' scheduled to open Oct. 26, with a mega-premiere at Radio City Music Hall.  While plans were scrapped in the wake of the terrorist attacks, the screening, although downscaled slightly, will be staying in Manhattan.  ''The consensus is it's not fair or appropriate to ask the police department to provide the kind of security [necessary at Radio City] when they've got better things to do,'' says producer Rich Hull (''Get Over It''), who along with Miramax rallied to keep the fete in New York despite understandable anxiety.  The premiere will be held Oct. 9 at the Ziegfeld Theatre.

(25/9) Inside Drive: A Novel of Basketball, Life, and Love
Source: Amazon.com, nsyncwebguide

In the pages of Inside Drive, NSYNC's own Justin Timberlake makes a move from center stage to center court to share with you his private passion: basketball. Here he writes the thrilling story of two brilliant athletes, best friends since childhood, who risk heart and soul for one chance at a championship season.

For the pro b-ball scoring phenomenon named Justin Taylor, basketball is life, and life is about winning. But no matter how hard he plays, or how many shots he makes, the rest of the Tampa Stingrays cannot keep up with him. What they need is a point guard with enough experience in assists to lead them to the playoffs. Justin knows the perfect person for the job, someone he started shooting hoops with in grade school. But his friend already plays on another team, in another state, in another league.

She's also a woman.

Teresa Brunson has got game. And she's come a long way since her first pick-up match with Justin more than ten years ago. After struggling over the hurdles of a biracial upbringing and the grueling challenges of pro sports, Teresa has become a sensation on her own by leading the women's league in assists. But even she cannot believe it when Justin announces that he wants her recruited to the Stingrays. There's one problem: No matter how good they are, women are not allowed on professional men's teams. But as an impossible dream turns into an electrifying, full-court quest for glory, an old friendship grows up to be something more. . . .

Justin Timberlake pours his passions and beliefs into this intense, exciting story about the game that he loves and a relationship that defies all boundaries.

Benefit Concert to Feature *NSYNC

Clear Channel, also the biggest promoter of live music, is hoping that the cloud of despair will lift by mid-October, when it tentatively plans to mount benefit concerts in New York and D.C., featuring among many other top-shelf acts, *NSYNC.

*NSYNC in "We Are Family"

Not to be outdone by Michael Jackson, former Chic member Nile Rodgers is doing his part for the terrorist attack relief efforts as well.

Rodgers, who co-wrote "We Are Family" for Sister Sledge in 1979, has roped in a slew of talent to re-record the disco anthem this weekend at the Hit Factory in New York City.

Entertainers confirmed for the song thus far, according to the New York Post, are Diana Ross, Sugar Ray, Sheryl Crow, Run-DMC, Dionne Warwick, Mos Def, Cyndi Lauper, Mick Jones, Charlotte Church, the Fugees' Pras, Patti Smyth, Andre Agassi, Joan Rivers, John McEnroe, Montel Williams, Eartha Kitt, Tyson Beckford, the New York Knicks, and members of the New York Police and the Fire Departments.

Britney Spears, Busta Rhymes, 'NSYNC, Run-D.M.C., Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Vanessa Williams, Joan Rivers, Macaulay Culkin, Kevin Bacon and Sister Sledge themselves have also joined the project.

VH1 will reportedly film the making of the song for a future documentary. As with Jackson's "What More Can I Give"s, proceeds from the song will benefit victims and families involved in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.

(21/9) *NSYNC Helps Out
A wide range of artists has been lined up by famed producer, Chic member and disco icon Nile Rodgers to remake Sister Sledge's 1979 hit "We Are Family," which he co-wrote and co-produced.

The New York native said on Tuesday that Britney Spears, Busta Rhymes, 'NSYNC, Run-D.M.C., Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Vanessa Williams, Joan Rivers, Macaulay Culkin, Kevin Bacon and Sister Sledge themselves have all joined the project. The cover tune will be recorded in two sessions — one on Saturday in New York and the other on Sunday in L.A. Rodgers said he's still trying to decide which charities should benefit, though he made it clear he wants the money to help the survivors and families of those killed in the WTC disaster.

Reminiscent of 1985's "We Are the World'' fund-raising effort, a group of pop stars led by Michael Jackson plan to record a new song to raise $50 million for survivors and families of victims in Tuesday's terror attack. Jackson, Destiny's Child and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys (news - web sites) all plan to record a new song, titled "What More Can I Give,'' that Jackson will produce personally, according to a statement on Sunday. Other singers committed to the effort include pop sensation Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync (news - web sites), and Mya.

(20/9) "What's Going On" Premieres on Radio September 21st
Source: prnewswire.com, nsyncwebguide.com

An ensemble of superstar artists gathered in New York City to record a new version of "What's Going On," Marvin Gaye's classic call for compassion, healing and love, in order to raise awareness and funds to fight against the scourge of AIDS in Africa.

In the wake of the tragic terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, Artists Against AIDS Worldwide, realizing the recording's powerful healing message extended beyond the scope of the project's original aim, decided to donate 50% of its proceeds to the United Way's September 11th Fund and 50% to the AIDS relief effort which includes the Global AIDS Alliance, among others.

Five different mixes of "What's Going On" -- including a "main mix" by Jermaine Dupri, a "rock mix" by Fred Durst, and other mixes by A-list producers -- appear on the special CD.

Banding together as an All Star Lineup, those donating their time and talent to the recording include Christina Aguilera, Amir (of the Roots), Backstreet Boys, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Destiny's Child, Jermaine Dupri, Fred Durst, Eve, Nelly Furtado, Nona Gaye (Marvin's daughter), Darren Hayes (of Savage Garden), Ja Rule, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Aaron Lewis (of Staind), Lil' Kim, Jennifer Lopez, Nas, Nelly, *NSYNC, P Diddy, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, & Michael Stipe.

Clear Channel Radio will simultaneously broadcast "What's Going On" across the country on all its appropriate format radio outlets on Friday, September 21, at 5pm (Eastern/Central/Mountain/Pacific).

The song will be made available to radio stations nationwide on Friday, September 21, for broadcast as well. At 4:56pm (Eastern), 4:56pm (Pacific), 3:56pm (Central), 2:56pm (Mountain)

MTV will premiere the song with an original video montage on "Total Request Live" (TRL). The "What's Going On" five mix CD will be in stores October 23. "What's Going On" is a production of Artists Against AIDS Worldwide, an organization founded by Leigh Blake.

(20/9) *NSYNC Raise Money for a Friend
Source: mtvasia.com

*NSYNC and their choreographer Wade Robson are getting together to raise money for a former tour friend.

Danny Lee, a carpenter on the current Backstreet Boys tour, used to tour with the boy band but perished in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.

Lee was on his way back to Los Angeles to be with his pregnant wife Kellie. She gave birth to the couple's baby Allison Danielle three days after his death.

Robson is now holding two dance masterclasses at Los Angeles Millennium Studios to raise money for Lee's family.

His mother Joy says, "It's so sad. Everyone liked him. He worked with *NSYNC and Wade and was well liked."

"We wanted to do what we can for the family so Wade is holding some dance masterclasses for dance fans. All the proceeds are being sent to Kellie."

(20/9) Lance Bass Eyes Next Film
Source: rollingstone.com
Could an Academy Award be in the cards for 'N Sync's Lance Bass? With the new romantic comedy On the Line, featuring Bass and 'N Sync mate Joey Fatone, due out next month through his A Happy Place production company, the pop singer's second film project, The Children of Willesden Lane, will focus on more serious subject matter: a Holocaust survivor who grew up to be a famous pianist.

"It's a true story, and Anne Hathaway is attached to it," Bass says. "I mean, she's the next Julia Roberts. It's one of those Oscar-type films. It's gonna be big."

The emotional drama centers on the extraordinary life of twelve-year-old Jewish refugee Lisa Jura, a Viennese native who fled to England and eventually won a scholarship to London's Royal Academy of Music.

Bass has met with Jura's daughter, Grammy-nominated concert pianist and radio host Mona Golabek, who wrote the book on which the movie is based.

Wendy Thorlakson, the film's producer and Bass's partner in A Happy Place, calls the project "The Sound of Music for this generation."

Bass won't be a major onscreen presence in the film, but he might have a "little, bittie" part. As for his next acting role, he says he would also like to deal with more serious subject matter. "The next part I want to do is some crazy, insane character -- like an alcoholic or something," he says.

Bass and Thorlakson founded A Happy Place in January, and their first feature film, On The Line, hits theatres October 19th. According to Thorlakson, they will then begin shopping The Children of Willesden Lane to different film studios.

(20/9) Britney's Album of Love Troubles with Justin
Source: worldpop.com
Britney Spears has revealed that lyrics on her new album were inspired by arguments with her boyfriend, 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, according to an interview in yesterday's Observer.

'Me and my boyfriend get in a fight and I get off the phone and I'm pissed,' she told the paper. 'It's good for me to sit there and write stuff out. If you want to look how I feel, you look at this album. It's like a whole diary for me.' But Britney was quick to insist that she doesn't argue with Justin that often.

'I'm not ashamed to say that I love him from the bottom of my heart,' she said. 'As far as love is concerned, with him, too much is not enough. He's everything.'

Britney admitted that Justin lives with her at her LA mansion when he is not traveling with 'N Sync, something that may come as a shock to Justin's grandmother who recently told America's Express newspaper, 'Justin has only stayed there a couple of times since Britney bought the house.'

Justin's granny also told the paper that the pop stars' relationship is just 'puppy love,' adding, 'Justin loves Britney and he trusts her but they are only teenagers and they may well just think they are in love. They really don't see each other that often at all and we are not expecting a marriage.'

However, Britney claims she and Justin are closer than ever. 'We've been going out for two years and I still feel the same,' she said. 'But it is a deeper love now than when I was younger. Like, we've gone through so much together and we've known each other since we were 12 years old. We know each other inside and out.'

(16/9) Popstars Look to Aid Attack Survivors
Source: dailynews.yahoo.com

Reminiscent of 1985's ``We Are the World'' fund-raising effort, a group of pop stars led by Michael Jackson plan to record a new song to raise $50 million for survivors and families of victims in Tuesday's terror attack. Jackson, Destiny's Child and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys all plan to record a new song, titled "What More Can I Give,'' that Jackson will produce personally, according to a statement on Sunday.

Other singers committed to the effort include pop sensation Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync, and Mya.

"I believe in my heart that the music community will come together as one and rally to the aid of thousands of innocent victims,'' Jackson said. "There is a tremendous need for relief dollars right now and through this effort each one of us can play an immediate role in helping comfort so many people.''

Proceeds from the song's distribution will go to a relief fund for the victims' families and survivors.

The pop singer known worldwide for hit albums like 1982's ''Thriller'' and 1987's "Bad'', is currently working on the "What More Can I Give.''

Jackson's New York-based spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, said the song will be released as soon as possible, and more celebrity singers are lining up to be part in the effort.

The effort is similar to Jackson's work on "We Are the World,'' which he co-wrote and performed. That song, in which scores of pop stars participated, has raised $65 million for the USA for Africa fund that aids victims of starvation in Africa.

"We have demonstrated time and again that music can touch our souls. It is time we used that power to help us begin the process of healing immediately,'' Jackson said.

Along with an English-language version of "What More Can I Give,'' Jackson and the other singers plan to record a Spanish language version.

(16/9) The Many Tattoos on Justin
Source: J14 Magazine (Oct. 2001)

Here's the deal. Justin has his initials "JRT" inscribed on one of his legs, he has an *NSYNC flame on one ankle, the Chinese symbol for song on the other, and most recently, he had a fairly large religious cross penned on one of his shoulders - that brings the grand total to four tattoos.

(16/9) *NSYNC Plans for Movie, Olympics
Source: J14 Magazine (Oct. 2001)

Finally, fans are going to get that *NSYNC group movie that we've all been waiting for. While it won't be quite like "On the Line", you will get to see it at your local theatre, unlike the IMAX show that only hit certain areas last year. "Since IMAX theatres are so limited in number, we decided to take it even further this year," JC says. The guys struck a deal to shoot their August 22nd New Orleans show and release the footage to movie theatres nationwide. This way, JC says, "Everybody can have a concert experience."

*NSYNC is also planning a special show for the entire world. The guys have been invited to next year's Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will perform an exciting 45-minute to one-hour set during the medal ceremony at the end of the Olympics.

"We're honoured," JC says. "It amazes me to see what the human body can accomplish. We're proud to take part in celebrating these tremendous athletes." JC, by the way, loves watching gymnastics.

(15/9) Ananda Lewis Show Postponed Again
Source: nsyncwebguide.com

Most of you received an e-mail from us stating that the *Nsync episode of The Ananda Lewis Show was going to run on Monday Sept. 17 2001.
Unfortunately due to the tragedy that occurred on Tuesday, we have had to make many schedule changes, and *Nsync will not be running on Monday. Some of you might have seen that today we ran an episode dealing with the aftermath of Tuesday's attack. On Monday we will now be running another special episode dealing with that topic. We have yet to make a decision as to when the *Nsync episode is going to run, but we PROMISE IT IS GOING TO RUN! We would not leave all the *Nsync fans out there hanging. It is a great episode, and was one of our favorite episodes to tape. We will probably publicize when we will air that episode, but it is best if you just keep checking back with our weekly schedule on our website to find out when it is going to run, so you don't miss it.

Something you can do though, is enter our contest. The link on our website is back up, and all entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on September 19, 2001. Tell all your friends (or don't! That might lessen your chances of winning!)

Thank you all for your patience. I hope you all will continue to watch our show, and give us feedback on what you think. As a new show in this tough TV would, the whole staff and Ananda really appreciates the support.

Sincerely,

(15/9) Bloody *NSYNC Pictures Pulled Off Shelves
Source: mtv.co.uk

A magazine photo shoot of 'N Sync frontman Justin Timberlake looking bloody and bruised has been pulled from the shelves following this week's tragic events in the United States. The pictures appear in the Autumn Winter issue of men's lifestyle magazine Arena Homme Plus. In the accompanying interview, Justin said he wasn't nervous about fans' reaction to the edgy photographs, attributing his confidence to his trust in photographer Steven Klein. "He explained the scenarios and I was down for it," Justin said. "I know the pictures he takes are like pieces of art in themselves, and that's where you kind of have to trust who you're working with. I trusted him the whole time. And he made it really comfortable for me. I'm obviously a bit more naked in these photos than I have been in the past, but it is what it is. For me, it's like a still in film."

The photos show Justin, a Tennessee native, baring his chest and tattoos, blowing smoke from his mouth and looking bloodied after a fight. The interview includes discussions on gun control and the boy band's tentative acceptance by members of the black music community. "We're starting to bridge the cultural gaps and that's a cool place to be, because we're just doing what we do. There's no big analysis. We just do what's comfortable," Justin said.

He admitted it was "tricky" juggling a normal life with his desire to fulfil fans' wishes. "I get depressed on the road just because you feel like the whole you, mentally, physically and emotionally, has been spent in front of everyone. You feel like you have nothing left for yourself. I have this theory that when you lose it all, that's when you can start again. So when I feel I've lost my spirit, I sit down and close my eyes and do some meditation."

(14/9) On The Line Soundtrack to be Huge Success
Source: seventeen.com

The first video for the much anticipated movie On the Line, starring Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, was filmed Friday in New York City. We hear the star-studded clip will premiere on TRL on September 16 -- plus, a Making The Video will air on MTV soon, too. The single's called "On The Line," and the video features appearances by 'N Sync (natch), Christian rock group True Vibe, Mandy Moore and BBMak's Christian Burns. The On The Line soundtrack will also feature an eclectic mix of songs from Britney Spears, Al Green and Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora. We can't wait!

(14/9) Joey and Justin Call in to TRL

Joey and Justin called in today during "Carson's Total Disclosures". They said this tragic event has affected them and everyone they know, and unfortunately they lost someone they knew. The guys also mentioned they're thinking of holding a concert with all benefits going to help those who were effected by Tuesday's events. There was no word on whether or not the guys would still be appearing at MTV on Monday (Sept. 17th) for "Gone's" premiere.

(11/9) *NSYNC Was NOT in New York City Today
Source: Official Int'l *NSYNC Fan Club

Dear fans,
Our prayers are with you all, especially for the men, women and children who live and work in NYC. We're sure that many of you are in a state of shock, as we are.

We have been getting thousands of e-mails from fans around the world concerned that *NSYNC was in NYC at the time of the terrorist attack. We can confirm for you that none of the members of *NSYNC were in NYC. They are OK.

We were going to send out a happy e-mail update today that thanked you all for your wonderful support for the Viewer's Choice category at the MTV video music awards recently held in NYC. All of that seems inconsequential when compared to this terrible tragedy but we'd like to say it none the less.

*NSYNC thanks you for your support and for your concern about their safety in the wake of today's tragedy.

Best wishes,

Gerri

(11/9) Deborah Gibson Talks About Touring with *NSYNC
Source: launch.com

Pop singer Deborah Gibson has returned from the road after opening several recent dates on *NSYNC's PopOdyssey tour. While on tour, she performed some of her popular hits as well as songs from her new album M.Y.O.B. (Mind Your Own Business), which was released earlier this year on her own record label, Golden Egg Records. "I was grateful for the opportunity, and we had a blast," Gibson said of her brief outing with *NSYNC. She added that the exposure she received from being on such a high-profile tour wasn't such a bad thing either, explaining, "Well, it's unusual that a newer act takes an older act out, but it was kind of like it validated me in the eyes of some current pop-industry people."

Gibson, who celebrated her 31st birthday on August 31, told LAUNCH that the tour ended up being a perfect fit for both acts.

"It makes sense because their performance style and my performance style is actually very similar. The older members of the group and I are the same age, and I think we reach a lot of the same people. I think we reach people that love kind of kitschy, solid, good entertainment, and those great pop melodies and hooks, so it all seemed to work."

(11/9) Blink 182 Are Cool With *NSYNC
Source: nsyncwebguide.com

The part of your MTV Tour Diary where you're heckling Justin from *N Sync totally cracks me up. What are the boy bands like? Do you get to hang with them at award shows and stuff?
To be honest with you, the guys from *N Sync are pretty much the most down to earth guys of the whole pop band phenomenon. They're cool because they actually let themselves have personality. There were these two venues that we played in Portland that were right next to each other. [*N Sync ] were playing in the enormo-dome and we were playing in the smaller venue next to it. They came over and watched our soundcheck, and we went over and watched theirs. They were like, "F***, I wish we could talk like you do on stage." We went over when the show started to watch what the intro to their show would be like, because they have such a huge production, and it's seriously all like 7 and 8 year old kids, and obviously they are not going to get up there and talk about dicks and boobies or anything like that. But they know that they are performers and they're cool about it. I don't like their music personally, but I respect them as performers. The thing that bugs me about the whole music phenomenon lately, is that it doesn't really seem like it's about music anymore. It just seems like it's about celebrity. A lot of the music that is so popular right now, people aren't artists anymore, they are performers. They can sing well and they can dance well and they can look really pretty, but who's writing the music? It's not about a song connecting with a kid anymore. This is just me going off on a tangent, but it just seems to me that right now it's about the whole magazine mentality, like who's wearing what, and how good somebody looks, and how big "Britney Spears'" boobs are. I just wish it was more about the music and about people writing songs and connecting with the actual songs. A lot of the stuff that you see on MTV and hear on the radio, it doesn't mean anything at all. Not that songs have to have a deep message or anything, and we're definitely proof of that, but at least we write our own songs. We might not be the raddest songwriters in the world, but that's what music is to me. It's not so much about the television-ness of it all.

But don't you think that Blink-182 is marketed in the same way as a boy band? You guys must have fans that like both Blink and the "Backstreet Boys".
Definitely. I go online all the time, and I'll get emails from kids who's email address is like *NSyncPunk or something like that. And you just know it's some kid on the cusp of finding out what music's really about. It's definitely strange bedfellows, but we try and be ourselves through the whole thing. Like I said, hopefully rather than being lumped in with those people, we'll separate ourselves enough that we can introduce people to a different kind of music. **Fascinating... You'd never believe what CD I'm listening to right now... yes, it is "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" Lol**

(14/9) From Melinda's Updates on Nsync.com

During this difficult time for every American, Lance asked that I post a message from the guys... I thought it was best if I just posted Lance's exact words because of how beautifully it was written... *Ahem, very patriotic.. no further comment*

A Message from Lance...

My heart and the hearts of the guys breaks for those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy. Please know that my prayers are with you and the rest of our country in the coming days of recovery. It is important that we not resort to the same type of evil by mistreating innocent people because of our anger. I trust our government will find and punish those who are responsible for this atrocity, and give my total support to any decision President Bush makes.

Although we will never understand how anything this tragic could happen in our country, I believe God loves us and will get us through this. I am comforted by that fact.

God Bless America, Our home sweet home!
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1

With love,
Lance Bass on behalf of JC, Justin, Joey and Chris

Source: People Magazine - Sept. 3rd

Chris: "About eight years ago, I took pictures at Sea World. I got fired because I wasn't obnoxious enough. I'd tell people, 'Look I've got to take 20 pictures before I can go back in the air conditioning. So would you let me just take your picture? I don't even care if you buy them or not.' "

(9/9) Details of Jackson Tribute
Source: dailynews.yahoo.com

A who's who of the entertainment industry showed up Friday night to honor Michael Jackson and celebrate the 30th anniversary of his solo career.

The concert began nearly an hour late as Jackson - dressed in a white spangled jacket - was escorted to his seat with Elizabeth Taylor. Sitting next to him was Macaulay Culkin, and Jackson's parents, Katherine and Joseph.

The show got off to a rousing start with a dance-packed performance by Usher, Maya and Whitney Houston, doing "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin''' from Jackson's 1982 megahit album "Thriller.''

But only moments later, it took a bizarre turn when Marlon Brando appeared onstage sitting on a couch. He rambled for a couple minutes about child abuse, starvation and disease.

People started to boo until Brando mentioned Jackson's name and said that Jackson was donating money to build a children's hospital in Florida.

The evening got back on track quickly with Billy Gilman's performance of another Jackson hit, "Ben.''

Liza Minnelli sang Jackson's "You Are Not Alone'' backed by a choir -then serenaded Jackson with "Over The Rainbow,'' the signature classic of her mother, Judy Garland.

The crowd grew restless at times during long lulls between performances. But fans erupted in cheers and jumped out of their seats when Jackson joined his brothers to sing a medley of their old hits.

On Thursday night, Jackson stole the show at the MTV Video Music Awards by appearing briefly onstage with 'N Sync. And on Friday night, 'N Sync joined the Jacksons and performed.

The first of two heavily hyped concerts in Madison Square Garden had other scheduled appearances or performances by Gladys Knight, Eminem), Destiny's Child, Yoko Ono, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Tucker and Samuel L. Jackson.

"Michael doesn't do nothing small,'' said Rodney Jerkins, who produced much of Jackson's upcoming album, "Invincible.''

The concerts Friday and Monday night are part of Jackson's attempt to reclaim his King of Pop title after a six-year absence between albums "Invincible'' is due out at the end of October; last week, he released the first single, "You Rock My World.''

Tickets for Jackson's show, which CBS intends to air, ranged from $45 to $2,500, and promoters said most sold within hours.

For those with $20,000 or more to spend, there was an after-hours party with Jackson.

(9/9) *NSYNC, Fatboy Slim Big Video Winners
Source: dailynews.yahoo.com

The King of Pop returned to the stage and tried to recapture his youth with today's chart toppers, 'N Sync - one of the big winners at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Michael Jackson burst out of a giant Etch-A-Sketch as 'N Sync finished performing "Pop." Jackson flashed some of his signature dance moves. He looked a bit wobbly when he came out of some of his spins, but the surprise performance drove the crowd wild and earned Jackson a standing ovation.

"We want to thank Michael for coming out onstage with us, that was huge," said Justin Timberlake while accepting 'N Sync's award for Best Group Video. "He just made five fans very happy." The group picked up four awards, and will repay Jackson's favor by appearing at his tribute concert in New York this weekend.

The top award of the night, Video of the Year, went to the female powerhouse collaboration "Lady Marmalade" featuring Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott.

Fatboy Slim came out the big winner, earning six moon men statues for "Weapon of Choice." The DJ, who left the performing to Christopher Walken, does not appear in the video. Just one of his awards was broadcast during the live event, leaving 'N Sync to appear the most anointed during the show.

(7/9) Billboard Hypes GONE
Source: billboard.com

*NSYNC continues to set itself apart from the teen-pop pack.   It can be said that Backstreet Boys and the like have strived to be more adult. But "Gone,'' rife as it is with elements of old-school soul, has a decidedly mature sound - and it doesn't sound like *NSYNC is just playing dress-up in Dad's gear. Justin Timberlake (who takes the songwriting lead here) has developed a warm, soulful vocal tone, as evidenced by his performance over this track's lean blend of beat-box rhythms, strings, and acoustic guitars. While "Gone'' is a showcase for Timberlake's creativity, his comrades are more than window-dressing, as they surround his vamps with harmonies so distinctive and integral that the song would falter without them. With "Gone'' having far more mass appeal than the hyper-aggressive "Pop,'' expect this single to be the fuel to keep "Celebrity'' in the upper regions of The Billboard 200, while providing a firm bridge for *NSYNC's transition from boys to men.

Hoping to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic claiming 5,000 African lives each day, artists including Bono, Wyclef Jean, Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Fred Durst, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige have come together to record an all-star rendition of Marvin Gaye's protest anthem "What's Going On." While the organization hopes to release the re-vamped Gaye single on December 1st, Global AIDS awareness day, they are currently without a record label. Recorded at a New York studio in early September, the collaboration was the brainchild of Leigh Blake, head of Artists Against AIDS Worldwide. Blake also co-founded the Red Hot Organization, which has released thirteen AIDS benefit albums since 1990. Global AIDS Alliance is hoping to link the project with other efforts to raise awareness about the crippling debt some of Africa's poorest nations owe to the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and Western Governments. Bono was the first to sign on for the recording. Blake says that, with Bono's help, recruiting other artists came easily. "This is our generation's cause -- they're younger, they're less apathetic and more aware of the situation in Africa," she explains. "These artists have a voice, and it's a voice for change." **Thanks, we really appreciate your concern. Actually, some of us are aware of the problem, but that could be cuz we're in the middle of it. I don't feel like debating now, actually**

(7/9) Tennis Anyone?!
Source: JJB
While hanging out in NYC for the big music weekend, Lance and Justin stopped by to watch some of the U.S Open tennis matches!

(5/9) Spanish Version of "Gone"
"I just thought I'd let you know that *NSYNC is going to release a Spanish version of "Gone" (Te Has Ido) in the near future, just like the did for "This I Promise You" (Yo Te Voy A Amar) last year!"

"They stayed in New Orleans and recorded a song, Gone, in Spanish on Thursday," Diane Bass said. "It's going to be their next single, and they'll release that in the Spanish market the same time it's released in the U.S.'

(3/9) EW Tests Drowning Pool's *NSYNC I.Q.

Source: nsyncwebguide, EW.com

They're in synch with the metal crowd, but how much do Drowning Pool know about Justin?
Some Ozzfest bands spend their downtime playing their heavy metal version of horseshoes--e.g., tossing lunch meat onto the willing buttocks of thong-clad nubiles with low self-esteem. But on this sweltering August day, the members of Dallas-based Drowning pool, flush with the success of their top 15 album, Sinner, have opted-- with a bit of prompting--to gather in their tour bus to play the 'N Sync backstage pass board game. Drummer Mike Luce has a request: "Can we lock the door so no other bands come in?" Sure thing, pal. Especially considering that menacing "let the bodies hit the floor" chorus of your current hit single, "Bodies" (which was just optioned by the WWF as a theme).

"I want to be Justin Timberlake," says guitarist C.J. Pierce, spinning the game's wheel. "I want to beat him senseless so I can f--- Britney Spears," says vocalist Dave Williams. The game is somewhat like Monopoly except that, instead of money, players collect little cardboard 'N Sync cutouts after correctly answering trivia questions about the band. First one to snag all five 'N Sync-ers wins.

Pierce has landed his piece on Lance. Williams presents a question: "Lance has a superstition that he must do what while crossing railroad tracks in a car: (A) pick up his feet; (B) close his eyes; (C) hum until he's passed them." "I'm gonna go with A," says Pierce. Kee-rect!

"Aw, man, I think Lance is the one I like least," says Pierce. "The little sonofabitch has a movie coming out this year," says Williams. "He's gonna make more money than the rest of the f---ing band, the little s---."

Not that Drowning Pool--the fourth member is bassist Stevie Benton--are exactly high and dry themselves. After one indie album in 1999, they signed with Creed's label, Wind-up, and would up hitting pay dirt. "If he can hook our parents up with houses, well, that'd be kickass," says Williams.

And speaking of kicking ass, Luce, who's collected three 'N Sync figures before the game devolves into a vicious 'N Sync roast, is judged the nominal victor. As things break up, Williams inspects the board: "Hey, can we keep this?" he asks. "We wanna destroy it onstage at the next Ozzfest." 'N Sync effigies ripped to shreds and tossed into the mosh pit--let the pieces hit the floor. **LOL**

(1/9) Justin and Britney's Engagement Denied by Record Company

Source: news.bbc.co.uk

Britney Spears' record company has denied reports that the pop star is to marry her 'N Sync boyfriend Justin Timberlake. A spokeswoman for Jive Records said tabloid reports that Spears had accepted a marriage proposal from US boy group member Timberlake were "rubbish".

She added that Spears would deny suggestions that she and Timberlake were engaged in an interview for the ITV show Rich and Famous, to be aired next week.

"These rumours have been around for a number of weeks, and began when they were seen to be wearing matching diamond rings." - Jive Records

On Friday, papers including the Sun, the Mirror and London's Evening Standard, reported that Spears, 19, had accepted a marriage proposal more than a month ago.

The couple were reported to have been in the middle of a recording session for the couple's new duet when Timberlake, 20, popped the question.

If true, the news would be a big upset to the millions of male fans of the singer - whose hits include Oops I Did It Again and Baby, One More Time.

It could also be a blow to Spears' young female followers, many of whom look up to Spears - a self-proclaimed virgin - as a role model of female independence.

(31/8) Update From Melinda at *NSYNC.com
Source: nsync.com

It is so amazing to me how time has flown by. I can not believe it is almost September! Tonight we are sitting on the Universal Studio Lot filming the video for Gone. Oh my this is a doozie. It is a 2 day shoot and we have been on set over 12 hours each day. After the shoot concludes we are headed to Mexico for the final show of the 2001 POPODYSSEY TOUR. The straight to NYC for the MTV VMA show followed by the Michael Jackson performance. Then it is a short trip to the Islands for a promo show and guess what is next...I am afraid to say it but I think the guys will have a few days off. Not bad seeing how the year is 3/4 over and this will be their first time off since it started.

We will be having a bunch of cool contests coming up on the site with some really cool prizes. Including stuff from On The Line and Billy Asbaugh's Instructional Video. So keep checking back.

It was nice seeing all of you on tour this summer. It won't be long until we are back there again. uh oh Justin just walked in...he is dressed up like Charlie Chaplin and is totally staying in character, not saying a word. Oh my he is making us laugh so hard. Chris is dressed like a Keystone Cop. That is all I can tell you for now, except that they are really good at Playstation, cuz that is all they do between takes. Enjoy your day.  As always, stay *NSYNC

(31/8) *NSYNC to Perform at Jackson Tribute
Source: nsynclandonline.com

I was watching Access Hollywood (Aug. 30) and there was a clip with Lance and Joey at the "Band of Brothers" premiere. They said that they re-worked their schedule, and they will be able to perform at the Jackson's Tribute after all! They also said they may do a rendition of Michael's famous "dance machine" tune, and will be starting rehearsals with Jackson in LA today.

buffy_lance.jpg (15495 bytes)

Okay, this is Lance at that "Band of Brothers" thing. And, by the way, love the flowery shirt. But hey. And that is the original movie Buffy, or so I'm told. She looks old. Whatever. I'm not required to like her, and don't assume they're dating either. Oh ya, click on the little pic for a big one!

(29/8) Lance Remembers Aaliyah, *NSYNC Dedicates Show
Source: mtv.com

In a two-way message to Ananda Lewis, Lance said, "I remember the first time I got to know Aaliyah. Justin and I did a photo shoot with her for Teen People. She was so stunningly beautiful that I was nervous to even talk to her. But, she was so down to earth and so full of humor I felt immediately like I had known her for years. She was one of the few that made me feel good about this business. She stood up for what she believed in and did not let anything get to her and make her jaded. She will be truly missed and will always have a place in my heart." In related news, *NSYNC dedicated "Something Like You" to Aaliyah at their POPODYSSEY concert in El Paso, TX on August 27th. Furthermore, it was in the New York Daily Paper today that Lance has cancelled his party he had planned for after the MTV Video Music Awards out of respect for Aaliyah. **I'm with Lance. That was tragic :(**

(28/8) Celebrity's Reached 5 Million
Source: billboard.com,

Last week, exactly 30 days after its release, 'N Sync's Jive album "Celebrity" was certified five times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released on July 24, the album quickly rocketed to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 based 1.88 million units sold in its debut week, according to SoundScan. Only the band's "No Strings Attached" had higher first-week numbers with 2.4 million units sold last March.

In its first RIAA accounting, "Celebrity" notched marks for gold (500,000), platinum (1 million), and quintuple-platinum, for 5 million U.S. copies shipped. The certification was issued on Aug. 22, 30 days to the date from its release. According to the RIAA's rules, a recording does not become eligible for certification until 30 days after its initial release. To date, the set has sold 2.754 million copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan.

(23/8) Justin Timberlake Says He's Not Hot
Source: katrillion.com

Apparently, millions of fans, countless websites in his honor and even the Choice Hottie Award at this year's Teen Choice Awards aren't enough to convince *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake that he's hot. "This is a rather embarrassing award ... I don't really consider myself hot. I don't really pay much attention to this kind of stuff," he said at the ceremony, which will air Monday on Fox.

This is the second year Justin has been chosen for the honor.

(24/8)*Nsync & Jackson Will Not Duet
Source: PR Newswire
*NSYNC will not be performing at the all-star salute to the 'King Of Pop,' MICHAEL JACKSON: 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, THE SOLO YEARS, on the Friday, September 7, 2001 concert at Madison Square Garden," announced producer David Gest (pronounced guest). According to Gest, "Due to scheduling conflicts, Michael Jackson and *NSYNC will not have time to rehearse the "Dancing Machine" number with the Jacksons in the way Michael planned to present it. Unfortunately, *NSYNC will be rehearsing their MTV Video Music Awards performance on Wednesday and Thursday while Michael will be rehearsing for his shows at the Garden. The two schedules just conflict and *NSYNC will not be in New York prior to that. Michael looks forward to working with *NSYNC in the future as he is a very big fan of the group."

(24/8) *NSYNC - Mama's Boys!
Source: ET Online
They may look wild on-stage, but the stylish band boys of *NSYNC are really all just good ol' fashion mama's boys! JC, Lance, Justin, Chris and Joey - all brought their parents onto the all-new "The Ananda Lewis Show" to introduce the people who brought them into their crazy worlds!

Cutie Chris Kirkpatrick wasn't afraid to expose his sensitive side, as he told Ananda that his mom Bev was "my first fan ...I've grown up in a single parent home, so I love my mom more than anybody in the world!" Justin Timberlake and his mother revealed that they have had fans walk right up to the doorstep of their home to take photos -- and leave with some souvenirs! "We've had eight or nine doormats stolen," Justin laughed. Joey and his family have had close encounters of a similar kind, as Mr. Fatone told stories about Christmas decorations being swiped from their front lawn and held for ransom (a snowman to be exact!).

'N Sync will appear on the Ananda's show on September 14.

Fans Organize an *NSYNC Challenge Party

"Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez and Joey Fatone collectively known as *NSYNC, founded Challenge for the Children in 1999. The main priority will be to offer financial support to children's programs and charities throughout the country." (from nsync.com) Sounds like a good cause, right? Well, it is. Jenn and myself (Jo) Feel that its a very good charity and we'd like to support it so we came up with an idea we're calling the *NSYNC Challenge Party. Its basically a 24 hour party and concert and all the profits will be going straight to Challenge for the Children. The plan is still in the developmental stages, but we're determined to make this work. Right now all we're looking for is support. Go to http://www.tbns.net/ncp and sign the guestbook showing your support. Even if you don't think you'll be able to make it to the party, sign it saying you support the idea. The more people we get, the better. We're working on getting the go ahead from the charity to collect money for them, and the more people we have to support us the better our chances will be. Ok...so you may be thinking `how are 2 teenage girls going to pull off something as big as this'? Well, with a lot of hard work and determination. This will work, we just need a little help from you. All we ask is that you sign the guestbook and show your support at http://www.tbns.net/ncp

Sincerely,
Jo and Jenn (I thought this sounded like a good idea..)

(21/8) *NSYNC Need More Votes for MTV's VMA!
Source: www.nsynclandonline.com

"I was watching MTV last night, and they showed the status of the Viewers Choice Award for the VMAs - and 'NSYNC was losing to the Backstreet Boys! 'NSYNC had 32% and Backstreet had 40%. We need 'NSYNC to win, cause we know they deserve it more than BSB!" Go to vma.mtv.com to vote! (I know some people think this is important, so vote!)

(21/8) *NSYNC Have a Warning for the Fans *I think this is important*
Source: nsync.com

From Joey, JC, Lance, Chris and Justin
Dear fans,

We have learned that recently a few people (not-yet apprehended) have been trying to meet *NSYNC fans by posing on the internet as one of the five of us *NSYNC guys or as an *NSYNC insider.

We don't know who these imposters are. We worry that their web chat room messages are part of a plan to lure our fans to show up alone in isolated places where our fans are told they will meet us or will meet someone who will take them to us. We hate to think what might happen to one of you if you fall for these fakers.

So listen up. If anyone tries to meet you by promising they can get you to meet one of us because they claim to work for us or be one of our close friends or family, don't believe them. Ignore them. Be safe, not sorry.

Be careful. We love the meetings we schedule with hundreds of fans every day on our tours. But the fans we meet with are always gathered in groups during regular hours in safe places and are escorted by groups of our staff. No exceptions. That way we're safe. You're safe.

Beware. None of us guys, and no one who works for us, ever sells *NSYNC concert tickets. That is all handled through Ticketmaster and SFX. As for passes to our 'meet and greets', sound check, or on-stage parties, these are never for sale; instead they are distributed by our sponsors for promotional purposes.

Be real. None of us -- Joey, J.C., Lance, Chris or Justin -- ever posts personal emails on chat rooms trying to meet people. Anyone who claims to be one of us on the Web is, at best, dreaming. At worst, they are perverts trying to get something precious from you by promising something from us. Don't fall for it.

Remember, without you, *NSYNC has nothing to celebrate. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Stay safe and always stay *NSYNC!

(21/8) *NSYNC Draw Huge Crowd at Today Show
Source: dailynews.yahoo.com

`N Sync is known for its pop music sound - but Nirvana? Justin Timberlake of the five-member boy band said they're not so different from the Seattle grunge pioneers.

``I think pop is whatever's popular, you know,'' Timberlake said Monday during NBC's ``Today'' show before the group performed their latest single, ``Pop.''

``There's different forms of rap that are pop. Nirvana was pop because they were popular. And so I think that's the whole concept behind the song itself.''

`N Sync also sang the Michael Jackson-influenced ballad ``Gone'' off their new CD, ``Celebrity,'' and finished the program with their Grammy-nominated hit ``Bye Bye Bye.''

They also sang ``Happy Birthday to You'' to weatherman Al Roker, who turned 47 on Monday.

``Today'' producers estimated the show drew the biggest crowd ever for their concert series, with fans waiting as early as last week in Rockerfeller Plaza for a prime spot.

(17/8) *NSYNC Following the Path of Former New Kids

Source: thonline.com, nsyncwebguide.com

15 minutes of fame up: There are some eerie coincidences between the two chart-topping boy bands For all of the music fans out there who have been eagerly waiting for the end of the current teenage pop music invasion spearheaded by the members of the group 'N Sync, I have good news. If history is any indication, their 15 minutes of fame on top is at 14:53 and counting, as shown by the example of their teenage predecessors, the 1990s group New Kids On The Block.

Although the members of 'N Sync brush aside any idea that they are simply following the New Kids' model for chart success, there are some eerie coincidences. For example, the New Kids were formed by Maurice Staff, a music entrepreneur who had earlier assembled another teen boy band, New Edition, which for awhile overshadowed the New Kids. Likewise, 'N Sync was formed by Lou Pearlman, a music entrepreneur who had earlier guided the career of another teen boy band, the Backstreet Boys, who, for awhile, overshadowed 'N Sync.

At the time of the New Kids, there were two primary "pop princesses:" Debbie Gibson, considered the more mature and sophisticated, and Tiffany, considered the more showy and less substantial. And one member of the New Kids dated Tiffany, the more showy and less substantial one. Likewise at the time of 'N Sync there are two "pop princesses:" Christina Aguilera, Grammy-winner for best new artist, considered the more mature and sophisticated, and Britney Spears, considered the more showy and less substantial one. And again, a member of 'N Sync is dating Britney, the more showy and less substantial one. On the New Kids breakthrough album, "Hangin' Tough," their biggest hit was the album's third release, a ballad titled "I'll Be Loving You Forever." On 'N Sync's breakthrough album, "'N Sync," their biggest hit was the album's third release, a ballad titled "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You."

After the New Kids' breakthrough album, they filled some time by releasing a Christmas album, "Merry, Merry Christmas." After 'N Sync's breakthrough album, they filled some time by releasing a Christmas album, "Home For Christmas." Also during the time following their breakthrough album, the New Kids contributed to songs by other musical acts, such as Marky Mark and the Japanese singer Seiko. 'N Sync used the time following their breakthrough album to contribute to hit songs by Gloria Estefan, Blaque and Alabama.

Once the New Kids became stars, an older song from their first album, a remake of "Didn't I Blow your Mind This Time," flew in to hit the Top 40. Likewise, once 'N Sync became stars, an Alabama remake of a hit from their first album, "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You," featuring 'N Sync on background vocals, flew in to the Top 40.

In order to answer criticisms that they were just a manufactured group and earn some respect, the New Kids performed live on a high- profile episode of "Arsenio Hall" to show that they could sing. Likewise, in order to earn some credibility, 'N Sync performed at the 2001 Super Bowl half-time show in a high-profile performance with Aerosmith.

With the first song released from their fourth album, the one- word "Games," the New Kids attempted to answer critics who brushed them off as inconsequential pop music by performing a harder-edged song they wrote themselves featuring such lyrics as "Somebody said somebody wouldn't last too long. Somebody's still going strong." With the first song released on their fourth album, the one-word "Pop," 'N Sync attempted to answer critics who brushed them off as inconsequential pop music by performing a harder-edged song they wrote themselves featuring lyrics such as "Why you wanna try to classify the type of things we do. We're just doing what we want, can't we say the same for you?"

"Games" marked the beginning of the end for the New Kids On The Block. Their next album spawned the Top 20 hit "If You Go Away," which became their last Top 40 hit. 'N Sync's "Pop" stalled in the Top 20, and it remains to be seen if their album "Celebrity," released July 24, keeps them in the superstar status or drops them to VH1's "Behind The Music" tier. But, if it is the end for 'N Sync, don't be too concerned. If the New Kids are any reliable indicator, two of the 'N Sync boys will come back with Top 10 solo hits - it'll just take 10 years to get to that point.

Feldman, a Dubuque resident and a 1992 graduate of Loras College, is working as a free-lance writer. His first book is "The Billboard Book of No. 2 Singles." His e-mail address is cgfeldman@mwci.net

(This just proves that you can come up with whatever "coincidences" as you want, if you look at the situation from your closed minded point of view... just kidding, I just thought it was kinda weird! But of course, same old argument: NSync put themselves together, Lou just took advantage of them. And proof of this, *N the Mix, for I Want You Back, Lance says something like, 'There were dancers, but that got cut out. I was very surprised.' I figure that proves that *NSync were not in complete control of their own work. But that's enough deep thinking for today, huh?)

(13/8) *NSYNC Win Big at Teen Choice Awards
Source: nsyncwebguide.com

*Nsync, Destiny's Child and Britney Spears were big winners at the Teen Choice Awards, which even netted an appearance by actor Ben Affleck. Boy band *Nsync picked up awards for best single for Pop and for best album, while Spears was named favourite female artist. "Thank you so much for doing this for me," she told the audience Sunday at the third annual award show. "It's just such an honour being voted by all my peers."

Members of the girl group Destiny's Child said they were surprised to beat out stiff competition like *Nsync, O-Town and The Backstreet Boys to win the award for favourite pop group. The show was staged at the Universal Amphitheatre and will air Aug. 20 on Fox. Votes for favourite actors, musicians and athletes were cast on forms published in Seventeen magazine and made available online.

Along with appearances by a number of superstars, the audience was treated to performances from the likes of Lil' Bow Wow and the girl group Dream.

One nominee surprised fans with his appearance. Actor Ben Affleck, who is currently in treatment for alcohol abuse, came out to pick up two awards, including favourite actor. "I actually wasn't going to be here, but I felt like it was important, because this actually means a lot to me because it's voted on by you guys," he said.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays the title character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer accepted the award for extraordinary achievement. "I'm honoured that all of you guys think I'm a role model," she said. "So believe in yourself and go for it." (Hey, I watched this in Miami. Hehe. *Nsync were so cute!)

(2/8) O-Town Have "No Beef" With *NSYNC
Source: worldpop.com

Making The Band stars O-Town, who are currently at No 4 in the worldpop-sponsored official UK Top 40, have revealed that despite a much-publicised rivalry, they have 'no beef' with 'N Sync.

'The rivalry isn't between us and 'N Sync, the rivalry is between the press and the press,' insisted Jacob Underwood in an exclusive interview with worldpop at Virginia Beach, USA. 'They cause this stuff because maybe they get a more interesting story than they had last week. We have no fight with 'N Sync.'

Earlier this year, Jacob reportedly threw down the gauntlet to 'N Sync by threatening to reveal shocking secrets about them if they didn't stop dissing O-Town. And when worldpop met up with the new boyband, Jacob was quick to reveal what he meant. 'The secret is that they went through the same process that we went through when we formed,' he said. 'And if they're saying the things that the press said they're saying then they know that they're lying. That's something they can deal with on their own.'

However, O-Town said they are pleased about 'N Sync's record breaking success. 'They have a great work ethic and I'm glad that they made a success story out of themselves,' Erik told us. **Cute cover up, boys. Really. I know, don't bloody well diss *NSync in the first place!**

(2/8) *NSYNC Fail to Beat Sales Record
Source: worldpop.com

'N Sync have failed to beat their own record for highest first week sales with their new album Celebrity. According to US sales figures the band sold 1.88m copies of Celebrity in the US last week, some 600,000 copies less than the No Strings Attached album, which sold 2.4m copies in its first week of release.

Despite the relatively disappointing sales figures the band are streets ahead of former No 1 album Alicia Keys. Keys' Songs In A Minor album sold 202,000 copies last week and falls to No 2 while No 3 album Devil's Night by D-12 sold 122,000 copies. Urban compilation Violator is the second highest new entry at No 10 while geek rockers Cake have a new entry at No 13.

This week 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake pre-empted the poor sales of Celebrity by blaiming the US economy! 'People probably don't think we think about his kind of stuff,' he said, 'but if you really want to get technical about it, the whole country, the economy is down 15 per cent. If you put the calculations in to sell somewhere between one-sixth and one-eighth fewer albums this time that would be the equivalent of selling 2.4 million when the economy was a little bit stronger.'

Celebrity now officially holds the record as having the second best first week sales in the US. Previous album No Strings Attached, which has now sold 14m worldwide broke the previous first week sales record set by the Backstreet Boys' Millennium which sold 1.1m copies in 1999. Backstreet sold 1.6m copies of their most recent album Black & Blue in its first week last year.

The Whose Line Is It Anyway? troubadour heads his own summer variety show, featuring musical spoofs, sketches and improv. In the opener, Brady and his bunch (the ensemble features Shulie Cowen, Brooke Dillman, Jonathan Mangum and Joel McCrary) take aim at targets that include his grandmother, James Brown and teenybopper boy bands. Brady also tips his hat to Whose Line with an improv bit in which he and Mangum perform a film scene. In a high point of the show, singers Brian McKnight and 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake join Brady to serenade an embarrassed audience member with a silly love song. - ABC, August 8th, 30 min.
