Other Music Artist Reviews
Here I will mention a few of the albums and things I've bought by other artists. Yes, there IS life beyond pop music, and more notably, *NSync. Some of you just don't know it.
No Doubt - Rock Steady: The new album by the group that's been going for... a while, at least. I don't know much about No Doubt, except what I see on MTV, which is basically Gwen Stefani and those other guys no one ever takes any notice of. By some miracle, I can sorta remember their names. But the music is really the important thing. I don't even know what their musical style actually is, but I like it whatever it is. There's the first two singles, Hey Baby and Hella Good, both great tracks. Unlike some artists, the rest of the album is in no way similar to the singles. Each has its own subtly different style and flavour... not surprising since they recorded a lot in Jamaica. Gwen's vocals are good, but there are also hints that there are in fact, 3 other people in the band! It's also enhanced, with the video for Hey Baby, a screensaver and a "Making the CD" video. This CD cost me a bloody fortune for some reason, but it was worth it. I suggest it!!
Spider-man - Music from and Inspired by: In other words, the official Spider-man soundtrack. Granted, not many of the songs are even in the movie, but there are 19 tracks on the CD and the bulk of them are good. I don't know if it's something with the South African version, but the stupid thing will not play in your computer! Won't even recognise it's there. Which could be a problem for accessing the special content website thing. Oh well. Besides that, there's some kind of comic book thing in the insert. If you can follow the story, well done. But the music is the important thing, right? There's the original cartoon series theme, which is funny, then Aerosmith's remix, which is cool. There's the Danny Elfman themes, which are nice. Then there's Hero and What We're All About, the two singles that have been released. I like em. From then on, there's a lot of rock and nu-metal stuff from artists you may or may not have heard of. They're mostly good songs, although you may have trouble linking them to Spider-man... The worst thing must be Macy Gray, because I seriously doubt her musical talent and the fact that I hate her doesn't help. But it's a good album overall, worth a listen.
