Küsel Ancestry (South
Africa) Great Grandfather

Friedrich Jürgen Christoph Küsel was sent to South
Africa in 1857, by the Hermannsburg Mission in Germany. He supported
the Entombe and Ekombela Mission Stations in the vicinity of the Lüneburg
Lutheran Congregation and settlement. These are all in the Paulpietersburg
district on the then Northern Natal Provincial border with Transvaal.

Entombe 11 February 1861 Johanna Maria Schröder, * Schneverdingen
(Kr. Soltau) 30 December 1835, + Lüneburg (Natal) 5 February 1906,
Daughter of Peter Schröder and Anna Engel Schmidt. Children 1-4 were
born at Entombe Mission Station, and 5-10 at Lüneburg, Natal. The
tenth child was my grandfather:

Karl Wilhelm Küsel was a farmer at Lüneburg, he joined the
"Boers" during the 1899-1902 Anglo-Boer war against the British,
and again during the 1913-1914 Boer Rebellion against the British. [Boer
is an Afrikaans word for farmer or Afrikaner. Afrikaans is a local South
African Dialect evolved/developed from a combination of European Dutch
and French Huguenot ancestry as well Malaysian and Hottentot (Indigenous
Tribe) slaves.]

Dorothea Elisabeth Marie Luise Thiele, * Piet Retief (Transvaal) 16 November
1886, + 1969, Daughter of David Wilhelm Thiele and Luise Schütte.

then part of Germany, now part of France), ¥ South Africa-Marie Knoop,
* 24 June 1892 South Africa. Friedrich Keyser
came to South Africa as a Missionary in 1911.] 6 Children were born at
Paulpietersburg, Natal. They are:

* 12 June 1957 Klerksdorp (Transvaal - Now North West Province - South
Africa), Daughter of Reuben Van Lingen and Ellen Van Der Merwe. Heinz is
qualified as an Electronic Engineer. Reulene has a BCom(Hons) qualification and currently lectures at
Technikon Pretoria. We have the following three children all born in Pretoria:
