The farm Vorwerk was 152 ha and is situated in the district of Schneverdingen close to Celle not far from Hannover and Bremen in northern Germany.

The first recorded owner of the farm was Hinrich tom Vorwark : 1567- 1587.

He was then followed by the following:

1599 - 1628 Christopher zum Vorwerk

1628 - 1647 Jürgen zum Vorwerk

1647 - 1680 Hans zum Vorwerk

1680 - 1704 Jürgen zum Vorwerk

1704 - 1732 Interim caretaker - Jürgen Peters through marriage.

1732 - 1739 Stoffer Baden

1739 - 1742 Peter Baden

1743 - 1761 Cristopher Baden

1761 - Johann Hinrich Küsel - See # III below.

On 12 November 1761 Johann Hinrich Küsel married Anna Dorothea Baden (Daughter of Christopher Baden). My roots can be traced back two more generations. From this generation more detail is available but I will only mention those direct in line of my lineage.

Johann Hinrich Küsel, * Söhlingen (Kr. Rotenburg) 18 April 1732, + Vorwerk (KB Schneverdingen) 8 November 1800, ¥ I. Schneverdingen 12 November 1761 Anna Dorothea Baden, * Farm Vorwerk 2 March 1746, + 30 May 1771, Daughter of Cristoph Baden and Metta Catharina Clement and ¥ II. Scheverdingen 8 November 1771 Anna Maria tom Hofe, * (Bleckwedel bei Visselhövede) in 1749, + Vorwerk 18 December 1815, Daughter of Hinrich tom H. zu Bleckwedel. 3 Children were born at Vorwerk from the first marriage and another 10 from the second. The fourth child (1st of second marriage) was Johann Hinrich Küsel and the eighth child (5th of second marriage) was Wilhelm Christoph Küsel (USA Ancestry):

Johann Christoph Küsel, * Vorwerk (KB Schneverdingen) 23 March 1798, + Vahlzen ....., ¥ Schneverdingen 29 November 1818 Anna Maria Heins, * Großenwede (KB Schneverdingen) 9 October 1862, Daughter of Peter Heins and Catharina Gertrud N.N. 8 Children were born at Vahlzen. The fourth child was Friedrich Jürgen Christoph Küsel (South African Ancestry):
