The Flame

In the light of
burning embers,
By the torch of flickering flame,
I sat and watched as far remember,
And saw within your name,
Burning forth with warmth of love
And lighting up my mind.
And in the tree boughs just above
There blew a gentle wind.
The light that lit
the darkest night
Like your eyes was bright and clear
The warmth that warmed the dimmest sight
Was the warmth when you are near.
Then from the
darkness up above
Rain fell and killed the flame of love
