INTRODUCTION Sarah Brightman has always been about re-invention, and this landmark 1997 release created an image for her that startled the world, that of operatic chanteuse. With the success of the lead single Time To Say Goodbye Frank Peterson capitalised on the duet concept and arranged Just Show Me How To Love You with great success. This was carried further with There For Me and its greater use of English lyrics and rock-drum track makes it the most pop-orientated of the three duets. To ensure that the album was not merely an interpretation of Italian opera, orchestral versions were made of Queen's agonising ballad Who Wants To Live Forever, a superb rendition of a track by the Gipsy Kings complete with Spanish guitar and the sweeping introductory track No One Like You from film-composer Jerry Goldsmith. The album is a serious classical work, with full orchestra, choirs and pizzicato rhythms a work of which to be immensely proud. |
