:: INTRODUCTION
Mónica Capel Cruz's debut release as Princessa occurred when she was just 18 years old. The all-Spanish affair was an airy pop success of soft synth-chords, sweet vocals and intoxicating melodies. The tender ballad Mar Y Sol was the first song recorded as Princessa. Once In a Lifetime, which had been featured earlier that year on Sarah Brightman's Dive, got a Spanish-reworking as Que Te Quiero. But the album also covered more upbeat sounds like the euro synth-line of Tu Estas Loco and the carefree dance stylings of Vende Tu Alma. However the highlight on this album has to be the beautiful Si No Te Decides with its haunting strings, understated electronic bassline and Princessa performing in a plaintive voice. The greatest compliment one can say about the album is that almost every track is instantly hummable and you will be singing along in no time, even if you don't always understand what you're singing! |
