A year after the massive success of Life In The Streets which made Marky Mark a household name in Europe (especially Germany), this remix album was released, featuring new reworkings from some of the top dance producers at the time. Two alternate remixes are included for five tracks from the original album (including the three songs released as singles, as well as Babylon and Rastaman Vibration). Mostly club-orientated mixes — so thumping beats, perky synths and aggressive electronic basslines are the order of the day. From the Drum'n'Bass/Jungle interpretation of Babylon by Loop! to the dark Damage Control Remix of Happy People the original tempos be increased, making the vocals also faster. There are some exceptions, like the surprisingly-appropriate housey Bass Bumpers remix of Happy People. Thomas Schwarz and Matthias Meissner add another level of beauty to their G-String Mix of Life In The Streets making it a perfect blend of strong hip-hop drumloop and lonesome instruments, while the chorus is made more intimate by being a solo female vocal instead of choir. A bonus version of No Mercy is included at the end of the album which features Marky Mark on solo vocals. If you enjoyed any of the original tracks these are all well-produced remixes and a great deal of effort has been made to take each song down a slightly different path, meaning the listener will be surprised that these are not just standard-issue remixes. Just a pity they never remixed the album's most impressive track: Into The Light.
