ARTISTS TO BE ADDED

The following is a general list of more than 100 additional artists who are still being processed for entry into EEM. I am currently either researching these or writing their entries. Due to the dynamic nature of this page it is merely a rough guide, with some of my notes and therefore not representative of the rest of the site (i.e. there aren't any clickable links). If you have any info about these projects, associated websites or (preferably) would like to do a little write-up/review of them, please do not hesitate to send it to me. The same applies if you have any other artists you feel should be mentioned on EEM and are not listed here. Words in brackets are album or song titles by that artist. Indexed alphabetically, individual names by surname. NOTE: this list does not imply that these artists will definitely be included in EEM, neither should it be seen as an endorsement that the artist listed is an Enigmatic Music artist -- they are taken as-is from suggestions I have received or found myself.

HISTORY OF EEM

The Encyclopaedia started life in 1993 as a small list of artists I enjoyed listening to. After creating FPWeb, my website dedicated to Frank Peterson (co-creator of the Enigma project, and arguably therefore the Enigmatic music genre), I opened a small sub-page on that site listing some other artists that fans of Enigma may wish to explore. Because of the explosive growth of the genre though, that list grew too unwiedly to display all the artists on one page. Hence its migration to the site you see now. From the beginning I wanted a site that would provide readers with enough general info for them to decide whether they would be interested in a particular artist or not. From there they could seek out more detailed info and hopefully buy the albums. Also by dividing artists into sub-categories, you can find similar groups to ones that you currently enjoy simply by looking at other artists listed in that particular category. The site has had overwhelming support, with many thousands of visitors and I have been blessed with a loyal group of people who regularly submit suggestions. Note: this site ONLY lists artists that mix modern rhythm-orientated music with chants. It has never and will never be one to document 'New Age' music (which usually has no beat or rhythm) or 'World' music (which usually is just voice accompanied by acoustic or traditional instruments with no synthesiser or electronics).

GOALS FOR EEM

My short-term goal was always to reach 100 artists in the database, which has finally been achieved. Now, you may ask, what happens after you've documented 100 artists? Well, the simple answer is to document another 100 artists, of course! Before that however, I will be making sweeping updates to all 101 artists listed at the moment to get their info as current as possible. Also, because the Traditional Cross-over category page has become unwieldly (as it is easily the fastest-growing and largest Enigmatic sub-category), it will soon be divided up according to geographical regions. So, for example, all African Cross-over artists (like Wes, Pangea and Beautiful World) will be together while all Far Eastern Cross-over performers like Dadawa, Emao and Rama IV will be grouped together elsewhere. The logistics of this operation are still being finalised. A STATUS tage is being added to as many artists as possible from Existing, Once-off, Defunct.

THE FUTURE OF EEM

My long-term goal is to re-launch the site with an all-new look and feel, with more powerful indexing technology and sorting not only according to artist name (as it is currently) but also by album title. However due to many other commitments and priorities I cannot guarantee if and when such a re-launch will occur. In the meantime I will continue adding new artists and info, so long as you continue to visit EEM!
